Industries We Serve
Organizations across many industries rely on clear, accessible communication. The Sign Language Company provides professional interpreting services tailored to the unique needs of each environment.

Business
Team Interpreting for Meetings, Conferences and Corporate Training
Team interpreting involves two or more sign language interpreters working together to support effective communication in professional environments. The decision to use a team rather than a single interpreter depends on factors such as the length or complexity of the assignment, the needs of participants, and the dynamics of the setting.

Through team interpreting, communication remains accurate while allowing interpreters to maintain the level of concentration required for high-quality interpretation.

Interpreting teams are commonly used in conferences, lectures, workshops, staff meetings, employee orientations, post-secondary education, hearings, and performing arts settings. One interpreter actively interprets while the second monitors accuracy and provides support, alternating roles when appropriate.
Education
Interpreting for Educational Environments
Professional interpreting is a specialized field that requires extensive training, certification, and ongoing professional development. Simply knowing sign language does not qualify someone to serve as a professional interpreter.

Educational interpreters facilitate communication between deaf students, teachers, service providers, and peers. They are an important part of the educational team and support accessible learning environments.

For more than 25 years, The Sign Language Company has provided interpreters for K-12 schools, community colleges, state universities, technical colleges, law schools, medical schools, and fine arts academies.

Educational interpreters may work in classrooms, lectures, assemblies, counseling sessions, field trips, and extracurricular activities.

Government
Interpreting for Public Access and Government Events
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires that individuals with disabilities have equal access to public meetings, programs, and services. Government agencies often provide sign language interpreters to ensure accessibility during public events.

The Sign Language Company provides experienced interpreters for political debates, public forums, speeches, and government meetings where accessibility accommodations are required.

Our interpreters understand legal accessibility requirements at local, state, and federal levels. They have assisted local government offices, the Governor’s Committee in California, U.S. Presidents, and world leaders.

Our Platinum Service can accommodate assignments requiring passports, background checks, or security clearances.
Legal
Interpreting for Legal Proceedings
Deaf individuals have a legal right to qualified interpreters. Legal interpreting requires specialized training to ensure that deaf participants can fully understand and participate in legal proceedings.

Legal interpreting services may include courtroom hearings, attorney-client conferences, law enforcement investigations, depositions, witness interviews, real estate settlements, court-ordered treatment programs, and administrative or legislative hearings.

Legal interpreters follow the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct and must meet the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which requires interpreters who can interpret effectively, accurately, and impartially.

Because of the complexity of legal proceedings, two interpreters are often assigned and may alternate roles to ensure accuracy and communication clarity.

Medical & Dental
Interpreting for Healthcare Communication
Healthcare providers are required by law to ensure effective communication with patients who are deaf or hard of hearing. Federal laws including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act require equal access to services provided by hospitals, clinics, and medical offices.

Sign language interpreters are often necessary when important medical information must be communicated clearly. This may include taking medical histories, providing diagnoses, explaining treatment plans, discussing medications, patient counseling, discharge instructions, and emergency admissions.

Healthcare providers arrange and pay for interpreting services. These expenses may be tax deductible.
